Service Unit Updates: Our goals
- Leaders: the service unit’s goal is to assist leaders in being effective in their roles by having scheduled training sessions at the service unit meeting or within that month.
- Communities: the service unit’s goal is to increase our Girl Scout presence in the communities that we serve by becoming more involved in local community events. We have reached out to our community partners about some events in which we may serve in a volunteer capacity.
- Cluster Schools / Area Churches: the service unit’s goal is to heighten the awareness of our community partners of the service that we can give as Scouts by having our girls conduct flag ceremonies or make pa announcements or provide snacks to the teacher/staff or attend school beautification days/fall festivals or Scout Sundays. With the implementation of our school liaisons then we are hopeful that this will lead to us participating a bit more within our schools.
- Scout Sundays: Please let me know the dates as soon as you can so that we can attend the worship services as a service unit.
- Girl Scout Week: Please incorporate attending a worship service during that week.
- Teacher Appreciation Week: Please ask the girls to write personal notes for the school’s staff to be shared during that week.
- Girl Scout families: the service unit’s goal is to bring awareness of opportunities within Scouting to our family and friends by sharing more events on our website as well as sending emails to the families of upcoming events. Please share our website as well as well as council’s website with your troop families. These resources will allow the families to review opportunities of interest to them.
- Girls: the service unit’s goal is to promote leadership opportunities for the girls by creating a girl committee that will allow the older girls to earn their service pins.

Service Unit Updates:
- Achieving Council Goals: Our team has a goal as well. We are here to be a support system for the leaders as we advance the Girl Scout movement in our area. To accomplish this we are focusing on our leaders, communities, cluster schools, area churches, Girl Scout families and our Girls by introducing some new initiatives. We are finalizing the initiatives based upon your feedback from the August SU meeting.
- Leaders: the service unit’s goal is to assist leaders in being effective in their roles by having scheduled training sessions at the service unit meeting or within that month.
- I posted a sign up genius for the training sessions so that you would have a handy listing of the classes. In addition, an email was sent with a description of each training class.
- Communities: the service unit’s goal is to increase our Girl Scout presence in the communities that we serve by becoming more involved in local community events. We have reached out to our community partners about some events in which we may serve in a volunteer capacity.
- Leaders: the service unit’s goal is to assist leaders in being effective in their roles by having scheduled training sessions at the service unit meeting or within that month.
- Gateway International Food and Music Festival: Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Lillian Webb Park from 4 – 8 pm.
- Go around the world in just one day without leaving downtown Norcross as the City of Norcross and Presenting Sponsor Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District present this event.
- It is Held in conjunction with Welcoming America’s Welcoming Week, this event will showcase the region’s best multicultural talent and highlight the rich cultural contributions of Gwinnett’s diverse communities.

- The nighttime trek is a glistening treat for sightseers as luminaries lead the way along the quaint streets. Free shuttles await everyone with comfy seats and a chance to relax before hopping back into the fun of the Tour!
- Still in discussion with the committee on how we can volunteer.
Please share our website as well as well as council’s website. These resources will allow the families to review opportunities of interest to them.
- Girls: the service unit’s goal is to promote leadership opportunities for the girls by creating a girl committee that will allow the older girls to earn their service pins.

Volunteer Appreciation
Girl Scout volunteers, we love you!
Every day, Girl Scout volunteers make it possible for girls across the country to enjoy and benefit from an adventure-having, skill-building, lead-taking, life-changing good time. It’s undeniable: without our volunteers’ commitment to unleashing the G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ in every girl, we couldn’t and wouldn’t be the largest girls’ leadership organization in the world. But we are. Thanks to them. And we love them for it.
That's why in April (National Volunteer Month!), we join with Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, to celebrate the powerful and inspiring contributions volunteers make all year long.
And on April 22, the party is especially big, as we celebrate Girl Scout Leader’s Day. What can we say? We love Girl Scout volunteers the most!
